The Montgomery Dragon Boat Festival’s mission is to raise funds to benefit our two local nonprofits as well as to expand the sport of Dragon boating here and in the state of Alabama. We are therefore excited to bring Alabama’s first Regional competition for Club teams in the Southeast, the Southeast Dueling Dragon Classic to the Montgomery Riverfront in June 2013!

This SRDBA-sanctioned event is a one-day divisional competition on a 500-metre course. Teams will compete in their Division for points, and race times will determine placement and advancement into the Championship Race. This event joins the circuit of races leading up to the Southeast Regional Championships.

The divisions in this event are Senior Mixed A, Senior Mixed B, Senior Mixed C, Premier Open, Breast Cancer Survivor (BCS), Premier Mixed, and Premier Women.

The Southeast Dueling Dragon Classic comes to one of the region’s premier Dragon boating venues here at the Montgomery River Front Park on Saturday June 8th. Races will begin at 8:00am and continue throughout the day, culminating in the Championship Race. Following the end of the races, the River Front will host an evening of entertainment, including various food vendors, exhibitors, a concert at the Amphitheatre and fireworks. Teams will have access to VIP sections and a special paddler’s celebration.
