RACE INFORMATION

DISTANCE: 250 meters.

COURSE: 5 straight lanes marked by buoys.

START/FINISH LINE: the start line is located 250 meter up river from the amphitheater stage. Although the finish line is marked by buoys, the river's current can move them during the course of the day. A high speed camera will monitor the finish line, SO PADDLE UNTIL YOUR STEERSMAN SAYS STOP.

RACE FORMAT: 5 teams will race in each heat.

  1. FIRST ROUND (Community Challenges): In the opening round of racing, teams qualify for 6 divisions based on their finish time. The fastest 10 teams will be in A Division, the next 10 in B Division, and so on. YOU WILL STAY IN YOUR DIVISION THE REST OF THE DAY; therefore, you must paddle your heart out in the first round. Teams of similar type, industry or category are grouped to race against one another in the opening round.
  2. SECOND ROUND: Based on your First Round time, you will be placed into one of six divisions (A, B, C, D, E, F) for the remainder of the event. The top 4 divisions will advance to their Semi-Final races. The bottom two divisions (20 teams) will compete in Finals Races at the end of the second round. The top four divisions (40 teams) will advance to the Third Round for their Finals Races.
  3. THIRD ROUND: Based up on Semi-Final finish times, teams will be reshuffled WITHIN their divisions for the Finals Races. Immediately following the last race, the Grand Championship, an awards ceremony will begin at the main stage where teams will receive their medals.
