Parking & Park Access

ALL PADDERS SHOULD BE IN THE

PARK NO LATER THAN 8:30

FESTIVAL PARTICIPANT PARKING

The City of Montgomery has reserved three parking areas exclusively for festival participants: teams and volunteers.  IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT TEAMS CAR POOL AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. We have approximately 800 parking spaces available for 1800 paddlers and volunteers.

  1. Coosa St. parking deck at 300 Coosa St. (the deck does not appear on google maps but it IS there) is located at the end of Coosa St. across from Riverwalk Stadium.
  2. Surface lot on Commerce St. in front of Union Station (Train Shed), The Renaissance Hotel, and the Embassy Suites Hotel. This is the closest available parking to the tunnel entrance. We recommend that teams park vehicles in this lot that will carry their tents, coolers, etc.
  3. Intermodal Parking Facility  at 480 Molton St, which is next to Union Station (Train Shed) and behind the Montgomery Advertiser building. From the top level of the Intermodal deck, you can cross a foot bridge over the railroad tracks and descend either by stair or elevator directly into Riverwalk Park.

PARK ACCESS: There are two access point to the park: 1) through the tunnel at the end of Commerce St., and 2) from the top deck of the intermodal parking facility (next to the train shed and new Advertiser building). From the top deck, cross the foot bridge over the railroad tracks and take the elevator or stairs into the park. There is no longer access to Riverwalk Park across the railroad tracks at the end of Coosa St.

PARK ACCESS & TEAM OFF-LOADING

6:30 TO 8:00 A.M., crossing guards and festival staff members will be posted at the Coosa St. entrance to the park (at the railroad tracks).  ONLY crew members & volunteers may use this entrance.

Teams should designate one or two vehicles to transport and drop off coolers, etc. (all tents must be delivered the day prior to the festival)  at the cul-de-sac at the end of Coosa Street. Vehicle may not park or be left unattended at the cul-de-sac: THIS IS A DROP OFF ZONE.

Festival Staff will be available to help crew members move their gear to their team's site in the Athletes Village. At the end of the day, all gear will have to be carried out through the tunnel, so we recommend that the "transport" vehicles park at the surface lot on Commerce Street, which is across from the tunnel entrance. After 8:00 A.M. the gates over the railroad tracks will close for the rest of the day.
